Levels of Care
Every part of the Presbyterian Home of Maryland is designed to feel like home. We are committed to offering the most independent lifestyle while tailoring the resident's care plan to meet individual needs. To determine the level of care, our clinical team will assess the prospective resident's ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL's). The ADL's include bathing, dressing, medication administration, mobility, toileting, dining and cognition. A comprehensive care plan will then be implemented to ensure the safety and comfort of our resident.
Level 1 Although our Level 1 residents are capable of performing all activities of daily living, our staff is available to those who may like a little assistance. Some may require assistance in medication administration, bathing and transportation to/from medical appointments.
Level 2 Most Level 2 residents may still be active but need services in addition to those offered at Level 1. Our staff may need to assist with transferring, choosing and laying out clothing and occasional verbal cueing.
Level 3 Our residents at this level may require assistance with most daily tasks as well as the support of up to two persons for transfer and assistance with traveling from one place to another. This resident may need complete help with bathing and dressing. Many Level 3 residents may be incontinent and need a toileting program. There may be cognitive deficits including short and long term memory which requires assistance with decision making. The Level 3 unit at the Presbyterian Home encompasses a high level of staff to resident ratio, thus allowing for excellence in care.
