Services

The Presbyterian Home offers its residents a vast array of services designed to provide the finest quality of care as well as the finest quality of life possible. These services include Nursing, Medical Care, Environmental, Dietary and Activities. With our all-inclusive pricing, you will never be surprised with additional fees or charges for our services. In addition, all service providers adhere to our policy of respect for the dignity of each resident.

Nursing Services
The Home has built a prominent reputation for providing superb nursing services and for providing one of the highest staff to resident ratios. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Home has licensed staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our nursing staff is offered regular clinical training through in house in-services and through outside qualified professionals. This ensures our nursing personnel are kept informed of the latest in the field of geriatric care and treatment.

Medical Services
The Home has a Medical Director and an Assistant Medical Director of Medical Care. These physicians are available on site weekly and are available as the needs of our residents arise. The Medical Director provides supervision and direction to our Nursing Services Department.

Residents are free to choose their own physicians and referrals are made to specialists whenever necessary.

Specialized care is provided at the Home on a regular basis by the following:

  • Podiatry
  • Dentist
  • Speech Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Pharmacy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Geriatric Psychiatrist
  • Exercise/Fitness Programs
Two of Maryland's finest hospitals, Greater Baltimore Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital, are less than a 5 minute ride from the Home.

Environmental Services
Making sure the Home is neat and clean is just one function of this important department's role to the overall harmony of the Home. Services include personal laundry, facility linen, trash removal and maintenance. The Presbyterian Home of Maryland is the proud recipient of the 2006 Diamond Award for Outstanding Performance in Environmental Control by the Baltimore County Health Department.

Dining Services
Proper nutrition as well as a pleasing presentation plays an important role in the good health of all seniors. Under the supervision of our Food Service Manager, all three meals are carefully prepared by our dietary team. Two Registered Dietitians also provide consultation and support to our Food Service Department. Meals are served in two attractive dining rooms where residents can enjoy small groups of friends. Residents have their choice of entree at the dinner meal and the Home always has a substitute entree available.

For those residents who choose not to attend the main dining room for the breakfast meal, they can enjoy a Continental Breakfast including juices, cereal and fresh fruits. The Continental Breakfast is conveniently located each morning in our spacious kitchenettes located on each wing of the Home.

Activities
The Presbyterian Home of Maryland offers many varied activities on a daily basis to meet the needs of all of our residents. Many of our residents choose to engage in more independent activities such as reading, socializing with friends or attending the local senior center located only a few blocks from our facility. Others choose to fill their days with an assortment of activities including college classes, crafts and entertainment. We offer several weekly socials including our very popular Wine & Cheese social and Ice Cream social.

The Presbyterian Home of Maryland hosts several events throughout the year for residents, volunteers, families and staff. These special events offer a chance for residents and guests to gather for socialization and to take part in parties, fundraisers and special occasions. Some of the events hosted each year include the Annual Resident Shrimp Feast, the Annual Crab Feast and our Friends & Family Supper.

All activities are planned, implemented and supervised by our certified Recreation Therapist.

Respite Care Services

The Presbyterian Home of Maryland recognizes the need for short-term, temporary relief to those caring for elderly family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside their home. Our Respite Care Service is designed to provide the same high standard of care our residents receive only on a planned, temporary basis.
